Waste Stabilization Pond Events and Meetings
Duncan Mara's Valedictory Symposium, 13 January 2011
The School of Civil Engineering, University of Leeds, is hosting a Valedictory Symposium for Professor Duncan Mara, who retired in September this year. The day will celebrate Professor Mara's unique contributions in the field of appropriate sanitation service provision in low-income communities. The day-long symposium will include colleagues and former students of Professor Mara who will each address aspects of the global sanitation crisis. Speakers include:
Sir Richard Feacham, KBE, FREng, Professor of Global Health at both the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of California, Berkeley, and Director of the Global Health Group at UCSF Global Health Sciences
Dr Graham Alabaster, Water and Sanitation Section United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT)
Dr Martin Gambril, World Bank, South Asia Infrastructure Division
Professor Tom Curtis, Professor of Environmental Engineering, University of Newcastle
Barbara Evans, Senior Lecturer, Water and Environmental Engineering, University of Leeds

The symposium will be followed by a dinner to celebrate Professor Mara's career.
