Summary Articles

WaterWiki is an information resource for the global water community so we would like the articles to form a comprehensive overview of the key topics in water, wastewater and environmental science. Over time, we hope to build a collection of summary articles that will make the IWA WaterWIki THE online reference point for water, wastewater and environmental science and management issues.

The WaterWiki is not an online journal publishing original research. We welcome contributions that:

  • Introduce subject categories/topic areas
  • Summarise journal papers
  • Summarise magazine articles
  • Summarise books/book chapters
  • Describe Case Studies
  • Discuss technical reports

Your article could be a general discussion about your subject e.g. Wastewater Treatment, or it could focus in detail on one interesting aspect of the subject e.g. Oxidation Processes in Wastewater Treatment. Be sure to reference your material with links to your online publications.

The examples are given as a guide. Please Contact Us for further guidance on contributing.

Articles from other Websites

You can import, copy, and rework articles from Wikipedia and other sites that are covered by a Creative Commons license. This should be prominently marked on the website that you would like to copy from. If you are unsure of any of the material that you are submitting to the WaterWiki, flag up your article as Review Requested to receive feedback from other users.

Copying material from other websites can mean obtaining permission to use the material from the copyright holders. For more information on this, please read the Copyright and Plagiarism Guidelines.

Articles Promoting Your Book

The IWA WaterWiki is an online information resource for the global water community that is accessible to all. If you have authored, edited or contributed to a publication, why not write an article promoting the book that will viewable by all visitors to the Wiki? The article could be a review covering the book. It could focus in detail on one interesting aspect of the book. Or it could be a more general discussion about the importance of the subject. Create a new article, correct, edit or expand existing Wiki pages, using material from your book.

Research Projects, Specialist Interest Groups, Policy Programmes etc.

Create an Organization Profile to describe the aims and scope of any research projects, Specialist Interest Groups, policy programmes etc.of which you are a member. Create an article to summarise research results, or keep users up to date with the latest group events or programme developments. Discuss results in the Forum or on the Discussion page accompanying each article and Organisation Profile. Share material and attach figures to your articles. There is room to create a private community for your group on the site. We could even create a private article space for you to publish your material to a restricted group of users.

Contact Us to discuss ways in which the WaterWiki could become a useful tool in the work of your group.
