1.2 MSP - Sustainable Sanitation Services for All: How to Involve the Different Political Levels to Implement an Integrated Sanitation Chain Approach
Sanitation is vital for the betterment of public health and social development. But in low and middle income countries, billions of people still lack access to improved sanitation and sustainable sanitation service delivery. Evacuation and treatment are also rarely taken into consideration. And in developed countries, a great deal of efforts still needs to be made in order to prevent poor wastewater treatment’s impacts on ecosystems. That’s why to reach the Millennium Development Goals, and to bring about widespread social and environmental benefits, an integrated approach towards sanitation and wastewater management is needed.
But how can national and local stakeholders facilitate the effective implementation of the whole sanitation chain approach on their territory?
How can they construct their own strategic vision in order to plan their actions for developing the service to the users-citizen and how shall we strengthen up their capacities?
