Lagoon
Any large holding or detention pond, usually with earthen dikes used to contain wastewater while sedimentation and biological oxidation occur.
Landfill
A land disposal site that employs an engineering method of solid waste disposal to minimize environmental hazards and protect the quality of surface and subsurface waters.
Latrine
A place or building, not normally within the house, for the deposition, retention and (sometimes) decomposition of excreta. Latrine can be used interchangeably with toilet and can be adequate or inadequate depending on its characteristics.
